WCO-ONS 2010 BOARD MEETINGS

COME ONE, COME ALL! WCO-ONS members are invited and welcome to attend all board meetings which include a complimentary meal. All we ask is that you notify Mary Murphy (937-256-9507 #4417) prior to the meeting to ensure adequate food for all. Contact any board member for more information.

WHERE: Hospice of Dayton, South Board Room, enter Shaw building.

WHEN: 2010 meetings are January 5th, March 2nd, May 4th, *July 11th, September 7th, and November 9th. Board Holiday Party December 2nd.

WHAT TIME: dinner at 5:30, meeting at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evenings

*The July meeting is annual retreat-TBA

WCO-ONS BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Susie Newton, RN, MS. AOCN, AOCNS Susie is an Oncology Advanced Practice Nurse and has worked in various nursing roles within the pharmaceutical industry for the past 11 years. Susie currently leads a group of 15 Oncology Clinical Nurse Educators for Novartis, through Innovex. Prior to working in industry, Susie was the Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at Miami Valley Hospital, Tulane University Cancer Center in New Orleans, and at Venice Hospital in Florida. She has also worked in the outpatient oncology setting at Medical Oncology Hematology Associates (Drs. Yanes, Merl, Calvo, and Safa). Educational background for Susie includes a Bachelors degree in nursing with a minor in psychology from Wright State University, and a Masters degree in oncology nursing from the University of South Florida. In addition, Susie is certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse as well as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Specialist. Susie has authored numerous professional articles and has published two nursing textbooks: “Telephone Triage for Oncology Nurses” published by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and “Oncology Nursing Advisor” published by Elsevier in 2008. Awards received include the national ONS FIRE Award as well as the national ONS Excellence in Oncology Nursing Mentorship Award.
